As of 2021, a significant exodus of over 54 million Venezuelans occurred, driven by the urgent need for safety, sustenance, medical care, and access to fundamental services. Latin America is witnessing the most substantial emigration of its people in recent memory. Colombia has taken in two million Venezuelan refugees, thereby becoming the nation with the highest number of Venezuelan refugees. The current research aims to explore the dynamic interplay of sociocultural and psychological elements relevant to the psychological adaptation of Venezuelan refugees within the Colombian context. We investigated the mediating role of acculturation orientations in understanding these relationships. Higher levels of psychological strength, diminished experiences of discrimination, a stronger sense of national identity, and more outgroup social support were significantly linked to improved integration into Colombian society and enhanced psychological adaptation among Venezuelan refugees. The association between national identity and psychological adaptation, outgroup social support and psychological adaptation, and perceived discrimination and psychological adaptation was contingent upon orientation within Colombian society. The results might shed light on critical elements and successful strategies that foster refugee adaptation in societies that receive refugees.

Our study aimed to ascertain whether body size ratios could predict trophic dynamics within a terrestrial, plant-associated arthropod community and whether predator hunting strategies and prey classification could explain any remaining discrepancies in the data. We tested for predatory behavior between two individuals, belonging to the same or different species, by conducting feeding trials with arthropods collected from marram grass in coastal dune ecosystems.
